Local merchants' "Spring Fling" sale through May 31
There is still about a week and a half left to take advantage of the “Spring Fling,” a group of local retailers who have banded together to offer some special deals and offers to their customers. These special sales will end on May 31.
“It's time to think spring, put on your sunglasses and flip flops [and] pull out the snacks and refreshments as you shop by social distancing from the comfort of your home or backyard,” said Liz Baker, executive director of the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce. “Our merchants are posting several specials and ideas on their Facebook and websites for the last couple of weeks in May.”
“Everything is different this year, so we're trying something different,” said Laurie Chambers, co-owner of Red Barn Consignments and Antiques. The company has been using Facebook to indicate their sales and specials. “Online shopping is the way of the world right now.”
Chambers said that, while they allow individual shoppers into the store by appointment, she only lets one person inside at a time and spaces the appointments out so the store can be properly sanitized between customers.
“The door is not open to the public, and if you want to come in it's one-one-one,” Chambers said. “Shopping by appointment is going to be the thing until the 'shelter in place' is lifted.”
Spring Fling retailers include Ability Weavers, All Natural Promises, All Weather Seal, Chimera Design Fine Jewelry, Fans in the Stands, Flat River Gallery & Framing, Flat River Cottage, Lowell YMCA, North Star Antiques, Red Barn Consignments and Antiques, Rookies Sportcards Plus and Tap House Bo. All of the merchants have special offers listed on their websites and/or social media pages, or you could just call them and ask, their phone numbers are all listed in the Lowell Area Directory.
“Thank you for supporting small businesses,” Baker said. “When you support a small business you're supporting a dream!”
