Lowell YMCA moving into old Impact Church
The Lowell YMCA has purchased the old Impact Church building and will move their operation to that location sometime next year.
“After the board's approval to purchase the Impact Church in Lowell on Nov. 29, we have now made the next step in our journey to open a new location for our Lowell YMCA,” said Scott Lewis, president/CEO of YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. “The YMCA is working in partnership with the city of Lowell and Vergennes Township, along with the leaders of Impact Church, to move forward with our plans to renovate the building into a new YMCA. We are currently finalizing renovation plans, project costs and contingencies.”
According to surveys and input at public meetings, a public swimming pool is one of the community's most desired amenities. It is possible the new YMCA could include this feature, but it is too early to say for sure right now.
“We are excited about what this move will mean for the Lowell community [and] we look forward to sharing more details in early February,” Lewis said. “We are hopeful that sometime in the fourth quarter of 2020 we will be welcoming individuals and families to the new Lowell YMCA.”
