Girls golf hosts conference jamboree

The Lowell varsity girls golf team hosted their OK White conference jamboree at Arrowhead and traveled to Centennial Acres for the Lakewood Invitational last week.

Jamborees were first introduced in 2012. Instead of dual matches, each conference team for golf hosts all their conference opponents at once in what are called jamborees. Lowell hosted theirs last Wednesday at Arrowhead Golf Course, the Red Arrows’ home course.

LHS finished in fourth with Lexy Kapcia’s 43 leading the way. Teammate Mary Jo Buechler had a 44.

At Lakewood, Lowell junior Addison Bruwer medaled with an 87 for 18 holes, her career best. This would end up as the sixth best score overall in the tournament, and helped lead LHS to a fourth place finish. Lowell was aided by Amiya Schaefer, Katy Hock, and Stephanie Spinella.

This year, the girls team has been able to shoot their second best 9-hole team round in school history with a 172 in a dual with Kenowa Hills. Kapcia led the way in that match with a 39. They also captured the Sparta Invitational championship earlier this year.
