Boys basketball tripped up by Forest Hills Schools
by Justin Scott
Lowell’s game against Forest Hills Northern was a peculiar one on Tuesday night. FHN, a team that had one loss all of last season, found themselves in a battle midway through the third quarter as Nate Clark scored a basket on a feed from Braiden Hamilton to make the deficit only seven.
But it was free-throw shooting that would be the team’s downfall on this night. Lowell went to the foul line 43 times during the game, making 17 of those. The Huskies won 63-48.
Brett Spanbauer led the Red Arrows with 20 points in the loss. Hamilton would add 11 and Troy Taylor had seven points.
The Arrows were not able to keep it close against Forest Hills Central in an away game on Friday. The Rangers jumped out to a 17-5 lead and never looked back winning by a score of 63-26.
LHS hosted Greenville on Tuesday and heads to Cedar Springs on Friday night. Hero Night, Lowell basketball’s annual night honoring the Military and first responders, is scheduled for January 31st. Certainly a must-make night for Lowell sports fans!
